Why the wait
Our model hasn't shown a proven edge yet, so we're testing it privately first. We'd rather start late than post picks we can't stand behind.
How the record works
- Timestamped before kickoff. Each pick is logged with the time we receive it. Anything logged at or after kickoff is rejected automatically.
- Locked at the posted line. A pick is graded at the line and price we posted, no matter how the line moves afterward. Logged picks can't be edited; a correction is a void plus a new, separately timestamped pick.
- Graded from two independent sources. Final scores come from two sources (for example ESPN and Sports Reference). If they disagree, the pick stays pending until a person reviews it.
- Closing-line value (CLV). We record where the same sportsbook's line closed at kickoff. Positive CLV means we got a better number than the close, the best long-run sign of a real edge.
- Tamper checks. Every logged pick is fingerprinted, so an edited line or a late pick shows up in validation.
- Units. Results are shown in units at the posted odds (1u = one standard stake), plus W-L-P and ROI, overall and by sport and week.
- Outside verification (planned). We also plan to log each pick on a free third-party tracker such as Betstamp before kickoff. That account isn't set up yet.
CLV = closing line value: how our posted line compares with the closing line. Positive means we beat the close. Past results never guarantee future results.
